'Safer in Town' Project Launched!

Wigan and Leigh People First were delighted to hear recently that we had won funding from Natwest Community Force to enable us to set up the 'Safer in Town' Project.

A heartfelt 'thank you' goes to everyone that voted for us!

The scheme was launched on January 18th and the event was opened by the Deputy Mayor.

Safer in Town will create a safety net for people with learning disabilities as they will know that they can get help if needed.

We also hope that Safer in Town will raise the profile of disability hate crime and lead to a greater awareness that treating someone badly because they have a disability is totally unacceptable.

If you'd like to know more about how the scheme will work, please click here to download our leaflet about the Safer in Town project (pdf, 979 Kb) or contact us for more details
